Mitchell Schmidt reports:
The positive case of highly pathogenic avian influenza, or HPAI, was identified at a commercial facility in Barron County, the state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection reported this week. The case marks Barron County’s second positive case of bird flu this year.
The affected premises has been quarantined to restrict the movement of poultry, and all the birds on the property have been killed to prevent the spread of the disease and will not enter the food system, officials said. The state and U.S. Department of Agriculture are working together in response to the incident.
