Assembly approves bills on property rights. (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 2/9/2016)
On a 57-39 vote, the Assembly approved AB 600, which could aid future lakefront development similar to Milwaukee's planned Couture high-rise, where issues of development of former lake beds have arisen. Four Republicans joined all Democrats in opposing the bill, which now goes to the Republican-run Senate.
The 4 Republicans voting 'no':
- Joel Kitchens (Sturgeon Bay). 1st-term representative (1st District) who won his seat in 2014 with 56.7% of the vote.
- John Murtha (Baldwin). 5th-term representative (29th District), re-elected in 2014 with 55.8% of the vote.
- Todd Novak (Dodgeville). 1st-term representative (51st District) who won his seat in 2014 by 65 votes. Vulnerable in 2016.
- Al Ott (Forest Junction). First elected to the Assembly in 1986. Re-elected in 2014 with 57% of vote.
The majority of the sponsors of AB600 are deeply red.
The Koch Brothers backed Americans for Prosperity Wisconsin heartily approves the passage of this bill.
