Ebooks, Netflix, and Library Building Projects (Part 98, Elkton Central Branch, Cecil County Public Library)
Renovation project starts at library's main branch. (Cecil Whig, 8/2/2011)
Excerpt: Users of the Elkton Central Branch of the Cecil County Public Library might, however, encounter some dust and noise during the construction. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of November.
Updates will include the installation of a more efficient checkout area with a separate book return area and more accessible self-check machines similar to those in the newer Perryville Branch library, said Denise Davis, county library director.
The behind-the-scenes workspace of the library will be rearranged to allow for more efficient book processing and work spaces, and to come into compliance with safety and handicap accessibility standards, Davis added.
The new layout will also allow the library to get more out of existing space and improve workflow.
The Elkton Central Library was built in 1986-1987.
