Individually the buildings are about as ugly as can well be imagined, but they were all constructed at the same tim and in the same style, and taken as a whole block they gain histsorical significance and even dignity
Just like those constructed during the same era on Liberty Street in Warren, Pennsylvania.

Marshall, Illinois, is located 16 miles west/southwest of Terre Haute, Indiana, and 155 miles east-northeast of St. Louis, Missouri. With a current population of 3,947, Marshall has a thousand more residents than when George R. Stewart drove through the town in the early 1950s.
