Disappearing cities and boroughs of the Keystone State: Steelton, Pennsylvania

Early today, the Bethlehem Steel Corporation shut down the last blast furnace at its flagship plant here, sending home 1,800 workers and ending an operation that had been pouring steel since before the Civil War.
Chances are that almost any major bridge or skyscraper in America contains some Bethlehem steel. Metal forged here went into landmarks like the Golden Gate and George Washington Bridges, into missile silos and more than 1,000 naval and merchant ships in World War II.
