Cathy Kozlowicz reports how a GOP village trustee applauds the move:

The Menomonee Falls Public Library will have $300,000 reduced from its proposed 2026 budget while the same amount will be added to the police department's budget, the Menomonee Falls Village Board unanimously decided May 19. 

Trustee Ann Lessila said at the meeting that the library's tax levy decrease will not "compromise the library's mission." 

Lessila said the police department's budget is being bolstered because Menomonee Falls is "not at the levels we need to be" compared to the surrounding communities. 

"It is the fiscally responsible thing to do, and safety is No. 1 in our community," she said.
