The Washington County District Attorney’s Office is currently weighing whether or not to file felony charges, referred to the office by the Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC), against state Rep. Janel Brandtjen, R-Menomonee Falls for alleged violations of campaign finance laws to support a primary challenger to Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, R-Burlington, in the 2022 fall election.
"At this point the matter is under review," said Washington County District Attorney Mark Benson.
He added that a decision on whether or not to charge Brandtjen would come "within a couple weeks" and that he had no further comment at this time.
