Sabine Martin reports:
Iowa's Republican delegation helped push through Congress President Donald Trump's sweeping budget bill which includes massive tax cuts but also slashes Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and raises the deficit.
Lawmakers moved Trump's "big, beautiful bill" out of the U.S. House early Thursday, May 22, with supporting votes from Iowa's Republican U.S. Reps. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Ashley Hinson, Zach Nunn and Randy Feenstra.
The proposal, which now heads to the U.S. Senate, would make Trump's expiring 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent and overhaul Medicaid and SNAP, a program that provides food assistance to 42 million Americans.
