Keeping tabs on Middleton's University Avenue corridor: Cariad Apartments at 6230 University Avenue

 
The Cariad is a 4-story, 53-unit apartment building located just west of the University Avenue/Allen Boulevard intersection.  Construction started in the spring of 2020 and was completed in the fall of 2021

The Cariad replaced two 1960s-era commercial buildings.  The final group of tenants in the brick and glass building included a computer store, sub shop (Milio's), and laundromat.  The building with the mansard-style roof originally housed a fast-food restaurant.  By the mid-1980s, it had been taken over by a Mexican restaurant (Mi Cocina, now Cocina Real), which moved to a storefront in the Middleton Springs shopping center on Allen Boulevard.  The building remained empty after that.
