UPDATE: Apparently, Walker didn't wow the crowd at this weekend's Family Leadership Summit

That's because he was already yesterday's news.

Here's a look at his poll averages during the first 9 months of 2015.  After peaking at 19.5% in May, he boarded the Oblivion Express.  ("Oblivion" as in sense 3.)

Donald Trump forced Scott Walker to abandon his presidential campaign, forcing him to walk a line from hubris to humiliation.

Failed Presidential candidate and disgraced former Governor explains rise of Donald Trump

That would be Louisiana's Bobby Jindal.

As quoted in Republican blames Trump’s rise on Obama’s level-headedness. (MSNBC, 3/5/2016)

This from someone who left a wake of destruction in his political path.

The damage done:
  • University funding:  gutted.
  • Rainy-day fund:  depleted
  • State workers:  cut to the tune of 30,000; others furloughed
Louisiana stands on the brink of economic disaster.  Despite all the cuts of the previous years, the nation’s second-poorest state still needed nearly $3 billion — almost $650 per person — just to maintain its regular services over the next 16 months. Edwards gave the state’s lawmakers three weeks to figure out a solution, a period that expires March 9 with no clear answer in reach.

The Presidential candidate as fulltime bottom feeder.

Scott Walker among group of U.S. governors with lowest approval ratings

Gov. Walker's approval ratings among lowest in the country.  (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 11/20/2015)

Until recently, three of the governors on the above bar graph were candidates for the 2016 Republican Presidential nomination.  Once considered a frontrunner, Walker withdrew in September.  Never gaining any traction, Jindal called it quits earlier this month.  At the most recent Republican debate, Christie was assigned to the kid's table.

Bobby Jindal for President? Most Louisiana voters scoff at the idea.

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has big problems in his home state.  And most of them having nothing to do with his Presidential campaign.

Dear Bobby Jindal and Rick Santorum. To stay strong, you first have to be strong.

And I gotta tell ya, guys, the two of you have been consistent bottom feeders.

Jindal, Santorum: Not dropping out despite Walker's comments.  (Des Moines Register, 9/23/2015)
Following the exit of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker from the presidential race, both former Sen. Rick Santorum and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said they plan on staying strong in Iowa.

Both are doing slightly better, on average, in Iowa:
  • 3.0% - Bobby Jindal
  • 1.5% - Rick Santorum
Walker dropped out of the race when he was at a 4.5% average.

This from a guy whose poll numbers barely register.

Scraping bottom in the polls, Bobby Jindal puts together an Iowa team for a possible Presidential run

Bobby Jindal builds an Iowa team.  (Des Moines Register, 3/31/2015)
Jindal, a Christian conservative, is one of the last Republican 2016 contenders to hire strategists who would orchestrate a campaign here if they decide to run.

The 43-year-old Louisiana governor has formed a new political organization called the American Future Project, and is sending three staffers to Iowa, aides told The Des Moines Register Tuesday.

  • Not much of a springboard.  Bobby Jindal continues to be one of the most unpopular Governors in the country, with only 35% of voters approving of him to 53% who disapprove.  (It fell to 34% in September 2014.)
  • In Jindal's case, there's a good reason why he's not 'evolving'.  Louisiana is one state where gay marriage isn't going to be legal any time soon unless the courts make it so. Only 28% of voters in the state think it should be allowed compared to 62% who think it should be illegal, and even among Democrats there's 33/55 opposition. Nevertheless you can still see signs that acceptance will come eventually- 54% of voters favor at least civil unions for same sex couples with only 43% opposed to any sort of recognition at all.

Bobby Jindal's Tea-Party Pandering Gets Him Nowhere

Fight on Common Core is Dividing Louisiana.  (The New York Times, 8/18/2014)

He flips!  Mr. Jindal, a Republican who many believe has presidential aspirations for 2016, has become an outspoken detractor of academic standards that he ardently supported when the state originally adopted them in 2010, along with more than 40 other states. Many conservatives, who say the standards were foisted upon states by the federal government, regard opposition to the Common Core as a litmus test, and critics of Mr. Jindal’s say he has changed his views mainly to court Tea Party supporters.

He flops!

  • Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey held court with admirers as he took his first out-of-state trip since Hurricane Sandy eviscerated his state last month.
  • Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin, who has emerged as a leading symbol of Republican strength after fending off a recall attempt this year, was given a prominent speaking slot here.
  • The chairman of the governors’ association, Bob McDonnell of Virginia, a state that has solidified its role as a presidential battleground, received accolades for presiding over a deep bench of Republican governors
