Headline:  Wisconsin State Journal, 10/31/2026

Madison tallied its third and fourth homicides in a week Friday night into Saturday, prompting a plea by the city’s police chief for people to resolve disputes without resorting to violence.
The shootings capped an unusually deadly week in Madison and bring to nine the number of homicides the city has seen so far this year.
All of the victims were targeted.

By comparison, Des Moines logged 12 homicides during the first half of 2026.
