Building Committee Votes to Extend Fundraising Effort for New Prairie du Sac Library

Excerpt: The new Ruth Culver Community Library likely won't open until 2012, as the Prairie du Sac Library Building Committee voted Aug. 11 to push back the move-in date and continue fundraising until the end of the year.
At the time of the meeting, $1.18 million had been raised for an expanded phase one of the Ruth Culver Community Library, and $220,000 more is needed for the expanded phase one that would keep the meeting room space intact and provide a better space for the teen area.
"The general community fundraising program is just beginning," said Helen Campbell, President of the Prairie du Sac Library Board. "I feel we are in the middle of our campaign."
Mike Gesicki of the Prairie du Sac Library Board passionately argued for fundraising to continue rather than moving the library into the space before phase two of the project could be completed.
"We can't stop now," Gesicki said.
