Bald eagle dies of bird flu in Indiana

Photo and headline:  WGN, 3/4/2025
The team at Humane Indiana Wildlife Rehabilitation Center found no obvious injuries but the bird was underweight and dehydrated, and a test indicated it was “suffering from toxicosis.”
The team suspected the bird might have HPAI – or Highly pathogenic avian influenza, the post said. An avian influenza test was conducted and sent to a lab at Purdue University.
On Tuesday, the director of the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Valparaiso told WGN News in an email the eagle had passed away overnight.
