USA box office on the 2nd weekend of 2017-2025

 
USA box office on the 2nd weekend of 2025 is down 21% compared to last year when "Mean Girls" was the top-grossing movie.  "Den of Thieves 2: Pantera" is this weekend's top-grossing film.

But it's down 52% compared to the peak year of 2018, when "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" ruled the box office.

Overall, this weekend was predictably quiet for moviegoing, though it may have been softer than anticipated as devastating wildfires continued to ravage though parts of Los Angeles, one of the biggest theatrical markets in the country. Revenues are down 28% from the same frame in 2024, when Paramount’s “Mean Girls” musical and Amazon MGM’s action thriller “The Beekeeper” opened in theaters, according to Comscore. Attendance is expected to pick up in February with the release of Marvel’s “Captain America: Brave New World” and “Paddington in Peru.”
