The final post of this series.
Unlike other Wisconsin counties where lumbering was the first dominant industry, Wood County experienced steady population growth during the second half of the 19th and all of the 20th centuries. Since its peak of 75,555 in the 2010 census, the county has lost an estimated 1,120 residents, or 1.5% of its population.
Wisconsin Rapids is the county seat.
As of July 1, 2014, 18.6% of Wood County's population is 65 and over, compared to the state average of 15.2%. Its 0-to-4 demographic is 5.7% vs. the state average 5.9%.
