State Journal Editorial Board Sez Madison City Council Made Right Decision on Central Library

Link to May 9 Wisconsin State Journal editorial, "A library Madison can afford".

Excerpt: Madison officials were right to choose the less expensive option for a new Downtown library last week.

Mayor Dave Cieslewicz and the City Council deserve credit for moving ahead with this needed reconstruction project on the library's current site across from the Overture Center, rather than building from scratch on a new site along East Washington Avenue
.

And a little birdie told Retiring Guy that, in spite of the need to move to temporary quarters, some staff prefer a 3-story library on the current site instead of a 6-story library with the same amount of square footage on the corner of West Washington and Henry.
