Board Member Raises Objection to Library Cat

Link to May 8 Kenosha News, "Trustee doesn’t think library cat is purr-fect".

Excerpt:   Maggie the library cat isn’t as famous as some library cats — such as the late Dewey Readmore — and is drawing the ire of at least one Community Library Board member.

Sharon Bower, a village of Twin Lakes trustee who serves on the Library Board, told fellow village officials she is unhappy with the idea of a cat residing in the library and being cared for at taxpayer expense.

“I feel very strongly about this,” Bower said. “As a taxpayer, I don’t want to pay for a cat. I have nothing against animals. They just don’t belong living in the library.
