DeForest resident Maureen McCarville is serving her 7th two-year term on the Dane County Board of Supervisor.
She challenged William Penterman (R-Columbia) for the GOP gerrymandered 42nd Assembly seat in 2022 but lost by 11 percentage points. She has a much better chance of winning in 2024, as the new district trends nearly 60% Democratic.
Jon Plumer (R-Lodi) has represented the district since winning a special election in May 2018. He is not running for re-election, and so no other Republicans has announced.
