Part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area, Carver County is one of Minnesota's fastest-growing counties.  Its population has increased 260% since 1960, compared to a 32% decrease in Mahnomen County, Minnesota's unhealthiest, since its 1940 peak.  Carver County's nonwhite population is 10.5% of its total compared to 53% (47.4% Native American) in Mahnomen.
