The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a nationwide health advisory on Tuesday as a flesh-eating fly nears the United States' border.
CDC officials warned doctors, public health authorities, and the public about increasing cases of New World screwworm right outside Texas' border in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. Cases of the parasitic larva jumped from 3 on Jan. 8 to 11 on Jan. 15, signaling a screwworm population has established itself in the state.
