Cottage Grove doesn't have a physical library building, but they do have a library board that offers a regular schedule of programs at various community locations.

Barry Adams reports:
But missing from this suburban mix is something residents of most area communities, even those much smaller, likely take for granted: A library.
Despite seeing its population more than double to more than 9,000 people over the past 20 years, there’s no dedicated space in Cottage Grove to check out a book, take a class, do research or bring a child to story time.
Supporters of a library thought they had the answer when they approached voters on April 1 with a referendum to approve an $8.2 million project in the heart of the village on the site of a now-closed day care center. (A previous plan to build a $23 million library on land owned by the Friends of the Library on the west side of the village was deemed too expensive.)
But after voters overwhelmingly rejected the proposal, 2 to 1, library backers are trying to figure out what to do next.
It may be years before the Dane County Bookmobile, a staple here since 1969, is no longer needed.
