Johnson, an Oshkosh Republican, will be in the Senate majority in the new Congress and is poised to lead the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.
He told the Journal Sentinel last week that he plans to turn the committee’s attention inward to federal agencies as he follows the lead of Trump’s new cabinet picks, some of whom are keen on changing the makeup of the government. And he hopes to work “very closely” with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump’s controversial nominee to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, in exploring issues like the efficacy of vaccines — something both men have repeatedly cast doubt on despite guidance from health officials.
