Just 12 years ago, Iowa was purple, voting for then-president Barack Obama in 2012 while its congressional delegation was half-Republican, half-Democrat. But since then, Trump has won the state in three consecutive general elections, and Republicans have seized control of nearly all statewide offices and all of the state's two Senate and four congressional seats.
The state's lack of civeresity probably play a role in its rightward shift.
