Part of the Columbus metro area, Delaware County is Ohio's fastest-growing county. Its population has increased 265% since 1970, compared to a 47% increase during the same period in Pike County, the state's unhealthiest county. Delaware County residents who are 25 years of age and older are nearly 5 times as likely to have a bachelors degree than Pike County residents.
