It's about time: Spiffing up the 100 block of State Street in Madison Wisconsin

Barry Adams reports:
There will be no hotel or condominiums in the immediate future as proposed by developers in the past. But after more than a decade of what has been largely a vacant eyesore, new, locally-owned businesses are starting to emerge on this critical section of one of the best-known and pedestrian-friendliest streets in Wisconsin.
In recent months, Vintage on State and Singlestich Madison, another vintage clothing resale shop, have opened on the block. Meanwhile, a Nepalese-Indian restaurant is set to open in a few weeks and there are plans for a nightclub in another empty space. That leaves the former YWCA building as the lone vacancy on that side of the street, which also includes Micahelangelo’s Coffee House and Ian’s Pizza, two of the busiest businesses on State Street.
