The red ink spells trouble for Iowa’s economy. The state is the nation’s largest pork producer, with pigs consuming about 20% of both Iowa’s corn and soybean crops, according to an industry report. Iowa, one of five states most dependent on agriculture revenue, also is the nation's largest corn producer and second-largest soybean grower.
