We lost the tree 2 summers ago. The other one (to the right) remains, though it was trimmed considerably.
The bad news: the clean-up and cost.
The good news:
- A revitalized, more colorful garden on the south side of the house (which required a lot of work but was ultimately very rewarding)
- Enough sun for a very productive vegetable garden (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, onions, zucchini, various herbs)
- Grass grows incredibly thick where we endlessly seeded.
- A new shed
- Fewer fallen twigs, seeds, and leaves! (Silver maples are very messy trees.)
But as you can clearly see, the change took some gettin' used to.
