Washington State reports multiples cases of bird flu in wild birds

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI or bird flu) has made another showing in Western Washington recently. In the past couple days, numerous reports of sick or dead birds have been received by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW). While the reports so far are from the west side of the state, in past years cases steadily spread throughout the state as birds carried viruses with them on their fall migration.
