Mr. Trump said Tuesday that Ms. Guilfoyle “was doing a good job” but that he “didn’t like what I read.” The president also downplayed his connection to Ms. Guilfoyle, who was once engaged to his oldest son, Donald Trump Jr.
“She wasn’t a member of my family,” he told reporters before leaving the White House for Alaska. “She, I guess, dated my son a long time ago.”

Donnie, Donnie, Donnie. Let's take a look at the chronology.
2007. Donnie Jr. and Kimberly are both married -- to different people, of course. Their children attend the same private school.
2016. Donnie Sr. briefly considers appointing Kimberly as his press secretary.
March 2018. Donnie Jr. and his wife separate and file for divorce.
April 2018. Donnie Jr. and Kimberly start to date on the sly.
June 2018. Donnie Jr. and Kimberly confirm the rumors about their relationship. Kimberly leaves Fox News to join a Donnie Sr. super PAC.
December 31, 2020. Donnie Jr. proposes to Kimberly on his birthday, but they keep things on the downlow for a while.
2021-2024. They live together in Jupiter, Florida, and are active in Donnie Sr.'s campaign to regain the White House.
January 2022. Donnie Jr. and Kimberly make a public announcement of their engagement.
December 2024. Splitsville. Donnie Jr. quickly moves on to a new relationship with Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson. (As they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.)
December 2024. As a consolation prize, Donnie Sr. nominates Kimberly as ambassador to Greece.
September 2025. Kimberly is confirmed by the U.S. Senate, 51-47.
All of this is not so long ago.
