Terri Pedersen reports:
A proposed change to Beaver Dam Common Council procedures that would limit public comment to just city residents speaking for less than two minutes drew concerns from some residents Monday.
The item was to be discussed by the administrative committee on Monday but was postponed to a future meeting. Residents addressed the concern after the common council met in full on the same night. [emphasis added]
City Administrator Larry Bierke is updating the city’s ordinances and policies, Mayor Bobbi Marck said. The city did not have a written procedure on how to address public comment and Marck pointed out that public comment was not a legal requirement.
But the proposal drew objections from some, including Maily Kocinski, who lives just outside the city but is about a mile from where the Meta Data Center is being built. She said she should be able to tell the council how its decisions are affecting her life.
