GET ME REWRITE: WIsconsin GOP leadership wants women to have more babies but their concerned end at birth

Headline:  Wisconsin State Journal, 11/19./2025

Assembly Minority Leader Greta Neubauer, D-Racine, had planned to invoke a rarely used Assembly rule to begin a petition to pull the bipartisan bill from an Assembly committee — where it has been sitting for months — and bring it to a floor vote. However, legislative Republicans preempted the effort by moving the bill to a new Assembly committee, halting Democratic plans before they began.
Neubauer described the maneuver as a “pathetic” effort by Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, who opposes the bill, to prevent a vote on a measure that’s been supported by dozens of Assembly Republicans. Similar measures to extend Medicaid coverage for poor women have been passed in 48 states, leaving Arkansas and Wisconsin as the only outliers. [emphasis added]
