While Lanford’s decision marks a win for the plaintiffs, Jeffrey L. Western, Kathy L. Western, Paul F. Umbeck Jr. and Mary A. Umbeck, who neighbor the proposed development, those in favor of the project say that victory may be short-lived: The city will analyze the rezoning and take further action. City officials have not set a date for a further review of the decision.

Over the past three weeks, the four-acre property was surrounded in chain-link fencing and crews removed most of the trees and vegetation in preparation for the housing project. This week, two homes and a duplex were removed, and on Friday the more than 100-year-old barn was taken down. The foundation remains along with two silos, but those are likely to be taken down next week.
