The EPA announced last week that the Clipper City will get technical assistance through the Building Blocks for Sustainable Communities program.
The program was created to develop smart growth solutions and strategies in ways that benefit human health and the environment.
The program’s focus in Manitowoc is to help a neighborhood on the Manitowoc River experiencing disinvestment due to the departure of the aluminum manufacturing industry.
The city will look at how they can find redevelopment opportunities to best address the transportation, housing, and other needs of the area.
