The Republican-backed bill (LRB-5037) would require every city, village, town, county and school district within 100 miles of the proposed resettlement site to choose a representative.
This is because refugees can resettle anywhere within 100 miles of the refugee resettlement center. Representatives wouldn't need to be picked until a possible resettlement.
The bill would help make sure important information about the resettlement is communicated to local officials and citizens, while also giving locals a chance to engage in the consultation process.
And who is the source of this unneighborly proposal?
