Just because state and local officials are reopening does not mean the virus is soon behind us.

In fact, the number of active COVID-19 cases has grown 8.5% during the past 10 days.

When Pence made this inane remark, the U.S. had 745,151 active cases. We've experienced an increase of 356,679 cases -- an increase of nearly one-third -- since then.
The coronavirus epidemic will most certainly not be behind us in 6 days.
