As reported in Elkhart, Goshen LGBT protections opposing arguments short on reason, long on hysteria. (Elkhart Truth, 7/22/2015)
Elkhart County is filled with business owners who are Christian. They may operate according to biblical teachings, such as emphasizing love and grace in dealing with employees or giving 10 percent of its proceeds to charity. For that they need to be commended. Principled business operations are too few in our society.
But that doesn’t make the owners’ bakeries, floral shops and pizzerias Christian businesses. They’re still just businesses trying to turn a profit. As such, they shouldn’t get a pass on discrimination. Imagine the uproar if a Mennonite caterer would refuse to serve a veterans’ reunion.
