Oshkosh Public Museum's "Snapshots of History" Exhibit
Link to February 14 Oshkosh Northwestern article, "'Snapshots' portrays details Oshkosh's landscapes, history".
Excerpt: A selection of 50 of Whitney’s images – documenting Oshkosh’s industry, buildings, homes, streets, parks and monuments – will cover all 2,000 square feet of the museum’s rotating gallery for “Snapshots of History: Oshkosh 100 years ago,” an exhibit opening Feb. 27.
Part of the fun of the exhibit will be for guests to watch the changes in Oshkosh’s landscape.
“I think people are going to find it interesting to see just how much things have changed since 1914,” Cross said.
The original 14 by 5-inch photos were enlarged to 4 feet wide for the exhibit. Next to about a dozen of the photos will be color images taken recently by the museum’s photographer, taken from the same spots Whitney stood almost 100 years ago, said Mike Breza, assistant director of the museum.
In addition, two images stretching 10 feet wide and two lenticulars — images that phase between the black- and-white originals and the modern, color photo depending on what angle you look at it – are also included in the exhibit.
