Janet Bewley was elected to the State Assembly in 2010 and 2012 and has represented the 25th State Senate District since January 2015.

Sen. Janet Bewley, first elected to the state Legislature at the start of a tumultuous era kicked off by the battle over Act 10, will not seek reelection, the Democrat from Northwest Wisconsin announced Tuesday.
“It is time for me to make way for a new generation of progressive and pragmatic leaders from a part of the state that has produced so many,” Bewley, who is the leader for the Senate’s Democrats, said in a statement released Tuesday.
Bewley said she would hold on to her leadership post through the rest of the 2021-22 legislative biennium.
