Population loss in rural Arkansas: Nevada County

Prescott is the county seat of Nevada County.

Population loss by degrees:  80-89%, 70-79%, 60-69%, 50-59%.

Percentage of population 25 and older with a bachelor's degree:
  • 17.0% - Nevada County
  • 22.0% - Arkansas
  • 30.9% - U.S.
Percentage of population 65 and older:
  • 22.6% - Nevada County
  • 16.6% - Arkansas
  • 15.6% - U.S.

Up until 2004, a majority of Nevada County voters chose the GOP candidate just 4 times:  1900, 1930, 1972, and 1984.  Third-party candidate George Wallace won 45% of the vote.  The county has voted Republican since 2004.
