It's National Friends of Libraries Week. Have You Offered Your Thanks?

Ralph Illick, Director of the Marathon County Public Library, has done so -- with a letter to the editor in the October 16 Wausau Daily Herald.

ExcerptThis week is very special for The Marathon County Public Library. Each year we celebrate National Friends of Libraries Week by reflecting upon the tireless generosity that our friends group shows in supporting the nine libraries that make up MCPL.

This all-volunteer organization raises tens of thousands of dollars each year to fund our summer reading program, Teen Zone events, staff appreciation awards, older Americans programs and the library's newsletter. If you've ever checked out any of the lovely artwork that we have here at the Wausau library, you've enjoyed another benefit provided by our friends, The Friends.

And so has the Volusia County (Florida) Public Library
