Excerpt: Lexington Public Library patrons last year checked out at record 2.92 million items — roughly 10 items per Lexington resident.
It's an increase of 5.5 percent from the previous year, according to a press release.
Books made up 77 percent of the total, with DVDs and videos making up 17 percent and music 6 percent.
The number of visitors to the library's six locations also increased by 10 percent, totaling almost 2 million. Items where checked during the fiscal year that ended June 30.
