In Michigan you need to earn $25/hour to afford rent. The state's minimum wage is $10.56.


And folks wonder why there's so much homelessness.

Michigan renters need to earn $24.46 an hour to afford a two-bedroom apartment, according to the National Low Income Housing Coalition’s latest Out of Reach report, far outpacing the state’s $12.48 minimum wage and the average renter’s wage of $18.98.  
“Amidst ongoing economic uncertainty, incomes are struggling to keep pace with rents,” the coalition’s report said. “At the same time, housing assistance remains deeply underfunded, and a severe shortage of affordable homes continues to push renters into unstable and uncertain living situations.”
