And why could it be a big year for the GOP? Because Brian Schimming says so.
Brian Schimming, chairman of the Republican Party of Wisconsin, expressed confidence that the GOP field will take shape and produce a potent rival to take on Baldwin in the fall of 2024.
He said potential candidates "will probably need to assume a more public profile into the mid-year months of this year."
He also claimed the 2024 terrain may be tough for Baldwin. It's a presidential year when both sides will be going all-in to win Wisconsin. She would be one of 23 Senate Democrats nationally defending their seats, compared with only 10 Republicans up for re-election, making 2024 a prime opportunity for the GOP to reclaim a Senate majority.
