Steen has previously called Vos a “treasonous traitor.”
“It’s a strong word, but it’s public policy,” Steen said. “If you look at this track record over the last 20 years … conservatism or the Republican Party strays just to the right of the left. So, instead of standing up, and this is what the difference, I believe, what an American first conservative is versus a Republican, is — we stand and say we’re going to follow the Constitution and the left can sue us. What Robin Vos has said is you know what I’m going to do is just sit here and do nothing and let the left do what they want and then we’re going to sue them.”
The reviews are in!

Julaine Appling, WFA PAC director, commented, “Each of these candidates has met our high standards for endorsement. Some have proven and consistent conservative track records from elected positions they currently hold. Others who don’t have a track record on the issues of vital importance to us give every evidence they are committed to principles and values that align with ours.
“We are always looking for candidates of good character, strong conservative beliefs, and leadership qualities to serve in our state government. These candidates meet those criteria. We look forward to their serving in their respective offices with distinction, as they hold true to their principled beliefs while working to strengthen, preserve, and promote marriage and family, the sanctity of life, religious liberty, economic prosperity, educational freedom, and more on behalf of the constituents they represent and for the benefit of all Wisconsin citizens.
6/8/2022 update, "Breathing down the Assembly Speaker's neck, Adam Steen wants to #repovos", starts here.
Vos never faced a primary challenger in his previous 5 elections and easily defeated the Democratic challenger.

Since launching his current campaign in March, Steen has had some public dustups with Vos, including calling the Assembly Speaker “a treasonous traitor” for failing to attempt to overturn the 2020 election that Steen says fraudulently elected Biden. Steen made that remark during a rally outside the State Capitol organized by 2020 election skeptics.
Last month, Steen planned to march in Rochester’s Memorial Day parade. But organizers later rescinded permission and only allowed incumbent elected officials – like Vos – to participate. Steen’s campaign has invited Vos to three public debates in the weeks running up to the primary election. At the first event – held last Thursday – Steen debated an empty chair because Vos declined to attend, according to the Steen campaign’s Facebook page. Upcoming debates are scheduled for June 23 and July 21.
Vos has been roundly criticized by supporters of former President Trump. He was booed by attendees at last month’s state Republican Party convention for saying: “We have no ability to decertify the (presidential) election and go back and nullify it. We do not. We need to focus on going forward.”

No time off for Memorial Day

Parade organizers were caught up in the fray when they denied permission to prospective Republican Assembly candidate Adam Steen to walk the parade route.
Steen says they’re showing favoritism toward Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, R-Rochester, and that the incumbent in the 63rd Assembly District is getting VIP treatment because he not only gets to walk in the parade, but he will — as he has done in years past — also emcee the remembrance ceremony at Pioneer Park after the parade.
Parade organizers said they were just trying to avoid politicizing the parade and not show favoritism. Vos, who lives in Rochester, said it is common for parade organizers in Rochester and elsewhere to invite current elected leaders while excluding political challengers and that having government officials in attendance is part of the parade tradition. [emphasis added]That's true with the Good Neighbor Fest parade in Middleton WI.
Steen knows the rules, of course, but this is his way of keeping himself in the news cycle.
And since he's making life uncomfortable for Vos, Retiring Guy is all for this bit of political shtick.

Things aren't going well for Robin

On Saturday, Gableman responded by appearing on a stage with some of the Republican speaker’s most vocal critics on the right, including Vos’ primary opponent.
Gableman appeared at a rally on the state Capitol steps immediately after Vos’ opponent, Adam Steen, called Vos a traitor.
At the beginning of Steen’s speech, someone in the crowd yelled that Vos was a RINO, or Republican in name only.
"'RINO' is a nice word," Steen responded. "I prefer the word 'treasonous traitor.'"
Taking the microphone after Steen, Gableman did not mention Steen's attack on Vos, but noted Steen had said any change had to go through the Legislature.

Among Steen’s backers are state Rep. Tim Ramthun ["It's Dim Time], R-Campbellsport, who is running for governor and unsuccessfully attempted to have the state Legislature have Wisconsin’s electoral votes recalled, a legal impossibility according to the Legislature’s own attorneys and election law experts.
In his only previous run for office, Steen finished 4th in the Wisocnsin CD1 GOP 2018 primary with 10.5% of the vote.
