Republicans’ regional divide. The GOP primary featured the same schism we’ve seen in other Republican races in recent years — between the more rural, less prosperous north and west and the more populous and suburban southeast. The candidate of the north and west (Donald Trump) lost. The candidate of the southeast (Cruz) won.
