The Repurposing of New Jersey's Fort Monmouth

The Wrecking Ball Targets a Former Army Base. (The New York Times, 9/23/2014)

Need some space for your business, "minutes from the Jersey Shore"?
The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority, a state agency that manages the sale of the property, says it has been receiving more inquiries from national developers recently than in recent years, multiple proposals for every offer and competitive bids for parcels.

The redevelopment has been propelled by the decision by CommVault, a data and information management software company, to move its global headquarters from nearby Oceanport to a new $100 million building on the base.  (Starts at 1:02 of video.)

The golf course will be preserved.  (1:39)

But say goodbye to the 639,000-square-foot Myer Center.  (Not shown in video.)  In fact, the Times article notes that as much as 4,000,000 square feet of building space is likely to be razed.
