Up until 1999, the four Madeline Island ferries never operated through the winter.  Since then, it's happened 4 times.  And twice the ice road lasted just a week.

By eliminating the live human interviewer, the IVR system reduce interviewer bias to zero and every respondent hears the exact same message in either English or Spanish. The system data is entered directly into a computerized database through the numbers on interviewee’s phone, providing a highly reliable system of data collection.

• Independents disappove by 10 percentage points:  45-35.
• Men (41% approve/38% disapprove) and women (33% approve/50% disapprove) agree to disagree
• There is a racial gap:  whites (43% approve /4-% disapprove); non-whites (20% approve/55% disapprove.
