Big payday for some Racine County farmers, not so much for homeowners

Residents in Foxconn area worry about what will happen with their homes.  (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 10/11/2017)
Over the past few months, owners of farmland have been offered $50,000 an acre — several times the previous going rate for agricultural land in the area — as real estate brokers worked to assemble a site for a $10 billion, 20-million-square-foot manufacturing complex that Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn Technology group says could employ 13,000 people.
"Are we going to be getting four times the (value) like the farmers?" one woman asked/
[snip]
"The law just provides for fair market value," Miesbauer added.

So let's do the farm math.

191 acres X $50,000 = $9,550,000

Read it and weep, Mount Pleasant homeowners.

Foxconn sez,
"I want the farmer man. farmer man. I want the farmer man. you want the farmer man? Yeah, I want the farmer man. you don't want no farmer man. Give me the farmer man. once again it's the farmer man.
