Paul Ryan celebrates secretary's 3.75 cents an hour raise

Reported in Paul Ryan deletes tweet touting woman's $1.50-a-week raise as proof of tax bill's success.  (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 2/3/2018)

Hypothetically, of course.

$1.50 (assuming gross pay) X 52 weeks = $78.00

$78.00 divided by 2080 hours (assuming full-time employment) = 0.0375 or 3.75 cents.

If she is paid $40,000 per year -- probably on the high side -- she received a 0.2% raise.

If she is paid $30,000 per year, she received a 0.26% raise.

Wow!

GET ME REWRITE. As you may know, several companies who pay their top executives millions of dollars have made ongoing cuts to their work force since before passage of Tax Cuts for the Rich Act. Knowing this, do you feel more or less favorable towards Republicans in Congress, who most likely received campaign contributions from these bottom-line fat cats?  (1/20/2018)
