An open seat.

State Rep. Dick Spanbauer cites broken system, 'extremism' on both sides in decision not to seek reelection.  (Oshkosh Northwestern, 1/24/2012)

Excerpt:   State Rep. Dick Spanbauer, R-Town of Algoma, decided not to seek a third term in the Assembly citing his lack of desire to continue serving in a system he said values political points more than the people of the state.

“They’re more obsessed with politics than the real reason we’re elected: To serve the people,” Spanbauer said. “Madison is different. Politics is different. Today, compromise has gone out the window and I’m coming to that point where I don’t have the patience for it anymore.

The Republican Candidates

Frank Frassetto

Kurt Schuller

Name sound familiar?  Kurt Schuller is Wisconsin State Treasurer.

The Democratic Candidates

Which one is Joanne?

The body language gives a clue, but her picture at Emerge Wisconsin (Class of 2012) will help to clear things up.

The Independent Candidate:  Andrew Koerwitz

From a memo to the members of the Government Accountability Board for a June 8th meeting.    One candidate, Andrew Koerwitz, listed the election date as “Nov 6” and failed to recirculate and is recommended to be denied ballot access for this reason.

Board members must have been in a compassionate mood that day.

Thank you for collecting so much information on the WI State Assembly races! There was a forum co-hosted by the League of Women Voters of Winnebago County and Oshkosh Community Media on Monday July 16th. Anyone interested can find the archived video here:

If you would like to find out more about Koby Schellenger's campaign for the 53rd Assembly District you can visit, follow "Vote Koby" on Facebook, or check out @votekoby on Twitter. Thank you!

Nice compilation. Who do you think will win the primaries?

Frassetto slim margin over Schraa. Koby for the democrates

I would agree with that. I would hope enough Democrats are smart enough to nominate Schellenger. The others are running campaigns that remind me of a school board election.

I agree with the above comment. I think Frassetto would be a shoe in except Schraa is willing to pump a bunch of his own money into the race. That being said, I still think Frassetto will end up having the support of primary voters. Koby Schellenger seems to have the only visibility within the Democratic contest.

Flejter isn't even taking this race seriously. His page isn't spell checked.

'It's time for corporations to pay there fare share. No more free rides'

I suppose I am tired of corporations not paying THEIR taxi fare. That's not FAIR.

Honestly, how can anyone take this guy seriously?

Schraa and Flejter are both clowns. How did we end up with this as a choice?
